Wedding and Portraiture Photography
I’m excited that I was able to finish up these edits of Steven and Nicoles engagement from last week. We explored the Lorimar Winery grounds and it is a beautiful venue. The grape vines are so lush and green. We didn’t have a hard time at all trying to find locations to shoot at. They were so great to work with, and they really did a great job with their engagement session.
Just finished up with Nicole and Adam’s engagement session and I am just blown away with how they came out. The lighting that day was perfect and the sunset couldn’t have been any better. They were also really great trekking around the winery to get the perfect shot for them too. A big thank you to Wiens winery letting us adventure around their grounds to get their photos as well. Such a gorgeous venue and can’t wait to go back there again.
Every once and awhile I get to experiment on a shoot with different techniques. For this photo I used a technique called the “Brenizer Method” made famous by a wedding photographer Ryan Brenizer. What it consists of is shooting multiple photos with a telephoto lens with a fast aperture (in this case I was using an 85mm @ f/1.2) and stitching them together to make a panoramic. It achieves these really wide photos with a very shallow depth of field.
For this location, the lighting and the framing was a perfect match to use this technique and I was very pleased on how it came out. I took 23 photos stitched together, and it comes out that I would need a 35mm f/0.5 lens to achieve this same effect.

We had a great time photographing this awesome family. Their little girl was so adorable and so easy to work with. She was a little shy at first, but when they got her to play and have some fun she forgot the camera was there. We got some great photos that I’m sure they will really love. We even got her making a wish, let’s hope it comes true for her.
As a parent you want your kids to grow up smart and strong. But you don’t start to realize how fast they are growing until you have to say bye to them when they go to school. She was so excited to meet her new classmates and was very eager to start learning. This is the start of her new school journey and I am excited to see what that future holds for her.
This little girl had so much energy! It was hard to get her to stay still, so I figured we would just let her do her thing and we would capture her in her moment. It was the perfect way to really show how she really was.
There has been a first for me during this engagement session. I have never ridden in a horse and carriage, and it was a great way to get a intimate tour of the Temecula Wineries. Alvin and Melissa’s cinderella inspired engagement session was beautiful. We had a great time taking photos and getting to know each other.

During our down time, we love to spend time with our family. Our little girls are such a hand full and it can be difficult to try to get photos of them. They grew up with the cameras always around. There are times when when they will work with us, but majority of the time they don’t. It’s a difficult task photographing little kids, but the challenge is something that I have always been trying to refine.
I wouldn’t say this was the most excited photoshoot, or the most productive, but after the stress with trying to get them to work together, we got the photos we wanted. Their personalities really come through, and you can really see it in some of the photos. They can be goofy to really emotional in just a couple seconds, but I guess that is how little girls are. I love them with all my heart and wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world.
